In wrestling, it's a common to hear a coach to tell you not to reach back. Well, we can include that in this position. It's tempting for the top man, as if they are able to secure a cross face by reaching back, they can shut you down.
The problem with that though is they put themselves in a modified Kimura. This is a move I have been doing for over a decade now, and works very well. It's great because no one expects to be caught in a Kimura in this funky position, but believe it - it will get you.
