Sneaking into Butterfly Guard vs the Squeeze Pass
Need Help? Email: info@ffacoach.com
Inevitably, someone will be able to build up to a tripod position and start threatening to pass from the Squeeze Pass. Good timing is important here, as your goal is to take advantage of their hips moving up to push them up higher - allowing you to sneak into a butterfly guard.
Normally you will get your bottom leg (the trapped one) to tuck in first as they lift up, then force the second hook in to score your butterfly guard. If you are flexible enough, you might just be able to sneak in the free leg first. Once you get your butterfly guard, I suggest attacking with a hook sweep on your over hook side, or shoulder crunch on the cross face side.
