No AccessThe most common clinch people will find themselves in is the Over Under position. It is a neutral tie up, meaning both fighters have the same exact position. While there are plenty of options from this clinch, often times fighters will jockey for better position by "pummeling" - the process of digging an under hook on their over hook side. The goal is to get double under hooks, which will allow for a body lock, which gives access to many big throws and trips. Pummeling is a bit like dancing. There is full body coordination required to complete the dance properly. In this video, we go over the drilling style of pummeling, which is a fluid motion, and the actual art of pummeling, which is a bit more erratic and staggered.
